You don't need a watch to know what time it is in Portland -- it's Dame Time
Enjoy it, Trail Blazer fans! The future now officially includes Damian Lillard
I’m very happy for Trail Blazer fans. Bringing Damian Lillard back at this franchise moment is something for them to hang onto, celebrate and find something to be excited about in the future.
It’s also wonderful for Dame’s children and their father. I cannot imagine the joy among those kids when they realized their dad is going to be near in the coming years.
What does it mean on the basketball court in the future? How will it affect the team’s current roster, loaded with young players? Will it have any impact on prospective buyers for the team or even the sale price?
I don’t know. And I don’t think this is the time to get too deeply into the ramifications for the future. Lillard is recovering from a brutal injury and needs time and peace for that.
And I knew his eventual return to Portland was going to be greeted with great joy and optimism, but I have to admit I’ve been overwhelmed with the reaction from fans. There is already renewed optimism and excitement and we are still probably a year away from his appearance in uniform on the court.
So, as someone known for some reason as a guy who rains on parades, I’m going to sit this one out.
You’ve had a lot of down moments — down seasons, even, Trail Blazer fans.
So for now, just celebrate. Your man is back. Dream your dreams. Enjoy this moment. Savor this and think about how good you’re going to feel just to see him on the bench in street clothes this season.
It’s Dame Time again.

Totally agree Dwight. Really glad he's back, this should be good for the younger players. When you think there's journeymen NBA players out there making $14 mil/year, this is a no brainer. Pro'ly his retirement tour. Portland needs multiple all-stars if they want to advance in the playoffs. Dame might not be the same player, but I'll bet he can still stroke it and now Scoot will have both Dame and Jrue in his ear, should help his development. This year is the throw away year and by next, we'll know if Scoot will be the guy, will Jrue get traded, will Dame start? Fun stuff to come.
I will rain on your parade then, Dwight. I've never been a Dame fan. I'm not thrilled about him being back on the team. Need team play and more defense. Not pass the ball back to Dame and let him shoot a 3 for how many minutes he is still able to play.
