Let's take a deep dive into the idea of the Trail Blazers making a trade for Giannis
If it comes down to Miami or Portland, would he choose Portland?
Every offseason there is great hope among Trail Blazer fans that the team will “take a big swing,” “Go all in,” “roll the dice,” “Go for broke.” or “Have the guts to trade half their roster and most of their future draft picks for an aging superstar.”
We have been hearing that for years and the frustration increases every season among those fans because it never happens. Basically because it’s hard to swing such a deal and, most often, the people running or owning the team are reluctant to mortgage the future to gamble on a veteran player, no matter how good he WAS.
Most recently there have been a lot of those trades completed and they haven’t gone well. Aging superstars get hurt more frequently. They have trouble reaching their peak performance. They tend to become unhappy and want to leave for another shot at a championship.
Yeah, we’re talking about some of those players I’ve heard Portland fans wishing for over the years. You wanted Kevin Durant, Paul George, Anthony Davis and, admit it, even James Harden.
