The NBA Finals are set and begin Wednesday after the New York Knicks coasted through the Eastern Conference and the San Antonio Spurs survived the defending-champion OKC Thunder in the tough West.

I’m going to confess a bias before the series starts. I love going to New York. Great place, No matter what you like to do for fun, you can find more than your share of it in the Big Apple.

But that’s just about it for me and New York. I grew up when the Yankees dominated baseball to the point where the only nationally televised game of the week was almost always from Yankee Stadium or involved the Yanks on the road. And they ALWAYS won.

Countless times I have heard that old BS about how “The league is better when the Knicks/Yankees/Rangers/Giants are good.”

No. It isn’t.
