The Trail Blazers added a terrific piece to their culture Monday night but, like a great many moves made by this front office, it leads to more questions than answers.
Portland dealt Anfernee Simons, their most tradable asset at 26 years old, along with two second-round draft choices, to Boston for 35-year-old point guard, Jrue Holiday, who has $30 million, $32.4 million and a $37.2 million player option left on his contract. Holiday, a great two-way player when in his prime, is coming off the worst scoring and assist season of his career.
Portland, which has been mired in the lottery as a rebuilding team, traded a 26-year-old point guard for a 35-year-old point guard on a bigger contract. This deal is not exactly a building block for the future of the franchise.
